Dr. Abusafieh is responsible for driving R&D strategy and technology development programs within Mubadala Aerospace assets including collaboration initiatives with OEMs, technology partners, and academia. Prior to this role, he worked as a Technical Advisor at Mubadala Aerospace & Defense unit for investment activities and Technology and Training initiatives.
Prior to moving to UAE, Dr. Abusafieh worked in the US for 15 years in the aerospace industry. His industrial experience includes managing R&D organizations focused on developing new technologies for aircraft structures, satellite hardware, and advanced materials. He led several technology development programs for NASA, AFRL, NAVAIR, and other government agencies. His work experience involved senior technology management roles at Alliant Tech Systems (ATK) and Cytec Engineered Materials (CEM).
Dr. Abusafieh received his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Drexel University. He has several patents and numerous publications and invited seminars. He sits on a number of senior management boards in academia and industry.
